The speculation about the future of the Chelsea winger, Willian, has been rife for some time. It

seemed like only a matter of time before the winger left the Stamford Bridge. However, he has

been on an excellent form just before the Coronavirus virus pandemic and the resumption,

making Chelsea offer him a two-year deal.

Reports indicate that Willian has rejected the offer, looking on to move to newer prospects. It is

understood that Willian would only agree to more than the two years offered by the club,

which is highly unlikely.

Chelsea has already broken their policy of one-year deals to players over 30 by offering Willian

the two-year agreement. And they are unwilling to break another ceiling for the 31-year-old

player.

Clubs After Willian

For now, it is understood that around five clubs are after the players. His agent report that the

clubs after him are two from the premier league, 1 LA Liga sides, and the European side. He also

claimed the player has already rejected an MLS move, with a club that wanted him to move by

1 st July. The MLS club is Inter Miami.

The LA Liga club was thought to be Barcelona. However, for now, that seems highly unlikely

with the club going slow on its transfer dealings.

Willian, though, is looking to keep his place in London while still playing at the highest level.

This makes Arsenal as the best possible team. Chelsea and Arsenal have an excellent

trading history, with several players crossing to either side. One of the notable transfers

between the clubs is David Luiz at the deadline of the transfer before the start of the season.

Olivier Giroud has also been excellent at Chelsea from Arsenal, among many more.

Lampard’s Take

Even though Chelsea coach Frank Lampard, would have loved the player to stay at the bridge,

he has no ill feelings if Willian decides to leave. They share a great relationship and have been

good at working together. However, the gaffer is open to letting the player go.

Speaking about the Willian transfer situation, Lampard said that even though he would have

wished the player to remain, he would respect his decision. And that Chelsea would move on

either way.

The other team that might also be looking for Willian’s signature is Tottenham. Jose Mourhino

is a great fan of the player after working together at Chelsea. Like Arsenal, the club believes the

player brings along the experience and a winning mentality that has helped him prosper at

Chelsea.

Situation at Chelsea

Chelsea, though for now, seems like it has already moved on from the player. It has already

acquired players who can fill the void left by the winger. It has secured the services of the star

Timo Werner and former Ajax man, Ziyech.

These are experienced players likely to take over from Willian. They would also seamlessly fit

Lampard’s system that is mostly young players centered.

For now, both Willian and the club seem to be content without a deal. The only remaining part

is a confirmation on where the player heads to next.
